A COASTAL-CHIC PALOS VERDES WEDDING AT ROLLING HILLS COUNTRY CLUB

This coastal-chic Palos Verdes wedding was designed as more than a single-day celebration. With approximately 140 family and friends traveling to Southern California, the couple created an immersive destination wedding weekend spanning some of the most meaningful settings along the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

The May 2025 wedding of Kathryn + Trevor brought together classic garden romance, coastal refinement and deeply personal details. French and dusty blues, sage green, ivory and white were layered with natural textures, lush florals and meaningful nods to family heritage. From a waterside welcome overlooking the Pacific to a historic coastal ceremony and garden-inspired Rolling Hills Country Club wedding reception, every celebration became its own interpretation of one cohesive story.

A DESTINATION WEDDING WEEKEND ROOTED IN PALOS VERDES

For the groom, Palos Verdes was deeply personal. A Palos Verdes native, he had long imagined returning home to marry at the iconic Wayfarers Chapel.

When the chapel unexpectedly closed due to coastal erosion, the couple had to reimagine their original plans. While the venue would change, keeping their wedding rooted in the Palos Verdes Peninsula remained incredibly important.

Because they were planning their wedding from their home in Texas, we approached the celebration as a true Palos Verdes destination wedding weekend—one that would allow their guests to experience the California coast rather than simply travel to it for a ceremony and reception.

The festivities began with a “West Coast Welcome” at Point Vicente Interpretive Center, where panoramic views of the Pacific immediately established a sense of place. A waterfront rehearsal dinner at Bluewater Grill in Redondo Beach continued the coastal story before guests gathered in Palos Verdes the following morning for the wedding itself.

A waterfront rehearsal dinner at Bluewater Grill in Redondo Beach continued the coastal story before guests gathered in Palos Verdes the following morning for the wedding itself.

Rather than repeating the same design at every event, we established recognizable threads through color, texture, florals, stationery and personalized details. Each celebration had its own personality while still feeling connected to the weekend as a whole.

A HERITAGE-INSPIRED CEREMONY AT THE NEIGHBORHOOD CHURCH

The historic Neighborhood Church of Palos Verdes Estates offered the architecture, history and coastal setting the couple had been searching for after their original plans changed.

As guests arrived, a live bagpiper performed outside the church—a meaningful tribute to the bride’s Scottish ancestry and an unforgettable way to begin the ceremony experience.

Inside, abundant blue-and-white hydrangeas were softened with organic greenery and delicate blooms in shades of ivory, sage and French blue.

These details weren't selected simply because they were beautiful. They gave the ceremony design a personal connection to the bride’s family history while complementing the colors and natural textures carried throughout the wedding weekend.

Following the ceremony, the bagpipes returned as guests exited the church, bringing the heritage-inspired detail full circle before everyone continued to the reception.

COASTAL-CHIC WEDDING DESIGN WITH A PERSONAL STORY

Attention to detail was incredibly important to the couple, but our goal was never to create detail simply for detail's sake. Instead

, we worked to establish a cohesive visual identity that felt personal to them and appropriate to each of their Southern California settings.

French

and dusty blues, sage green, ivory and white formed the foundation of the palette, layered with natural wood, rattan, linen and glass. Lush hydrangeas created abundance while organic greenery and more delicate florals kept the overall design romantic and connected to the coast. The

visual story actually began long before guests arrived in California.

Their custom monogram, Save the Dates and stationery introduced the palette and aesthetic that would eventually carry through the rehearsal dinner, Welcome Party, ceremony and reception.

The intention wasn't to make every event look identical.

Instead, each celebration became its own interpretation of the same visual story—allowing the design to evolve as guests moved through the wedding weekend.

A GARDEN-INSPIRED ROLLING HILLS COUNTRY CLUB WEDDING RECEPTION

Following the ceremony, guests continued to Rolling Hills Country Club for a reception that transitioned the coastal ceremony aesthetic into a more garden-inspired setting.

Rather than repeating a single tablescape throughout the reception, we curated four distinct table designs using different combinations of linens, florals, glassware and natural textures.

Each table style was intentionally different, but the repeated palette and materials created continuity throughout the room. This allowed the reception to feel layered and personalized without becoming visually disconnected.

The soft blues and greens established earlier in the weekend remained present, while lush garden florals, textural linens and warm natural materials created a more elevated interpretation of the coastal palette.

It was one of our favorite examples of how a wedding can feel cohesive without everything needing to match.

PERSONAL DETAILS THAT MADE THE CELEBRATION DISTINCTLY THEIRS

Some of the most memorable elements of the weekend were also the most personal.

The bride's heritage appeared through the bagpipes and floral selections. The groom's connection to Palos Verdes influenced the location and overall guest experience. Their shared appreciation for meaningful details informed everything from the stationery to the reception design.

And later in the evening, that personalization became a little more playful.

A custom “Rutledge Burger” station, inspired by one of California's most iconic burger stands, gave guests a late-night surprise complete with personalized branding and custom paper goods.

It was fun, unexpected and completely specific to the couple—the kind of detail that transforms a beautiful wedding into an experience guests remember.

TIMELESS WEDDING FASHION IN SHADES OF BLUE + GREEN

The bride selected a timeless strapless gown from Alice in Ivory Dallas, pairing its clean silhouette with accessories from Mariloff Diamonds.

Rather than selecting one matching bridesmaid dress, the bridal party wore a curated collection of floor-length gowns in soft blues and greens. Variations in silhouette and tone created an organic, romantic look, while the Maid of Honor wore a floral blue-and-green gown that beautifully connected the fashion to the wedding palette.

The groom distinguished himself in a white dinner jacket from Generation Tux with Omega accessories, while his groomsmen kept the look classic in black tuxedos.

Like the wedding itself, the fashion was cohesive without being overly matched—refined, individual and perfectly suited to the coastal setting.

PLANNING A PALOS VERDES DESTINATION WEDDING

One of the reasons we love planning weddings in Palos Verdes is the opportunity to make the destination itself part of the experience.

For this celebration, that meant thinking beyond the ceremony and reception.

Guests were traveling from outside California, so each event offered another opportunity to introduce them to the Peninsula and surrounding coastline.

Point Vicente provided sweeping Pacific views for the welcome celebration. The Neighborhood Church brought history, architecture and coastal character to the ceremony. Rolling Hills Country Club allowed the aesthetic to transition naturally into an elevated garden reception.

For couples considering a Palos Verdes wedding, selecting venues that complement one another can create a much more immersive experience than simply choosing each location independently.

Multiple venues also require thoughtful logistical planning. Transportation, travel time, guest accommodations, coastal weather, photography timing, vendor access and transitions between events should all be considered when building the wedding-weekend timeline.

When those pieces are planned together from the beginning, the complexity remains behind the scenes while the experience feels effortless to guests.

PLANNING + DESIGN FROM TEXAS TO THE CALIFORNIA COAST

The couple's journey to Champagne Dreams + Co. began while they were reconsidering their venue plans following the closure of Wayfarers Chapel.

During their search, they explored La Venta Inn, where Champagne Dreams + Co. is a preferred wedding planner. Although they ultimately selected other Palos Verdes venues for their wedding day, that trusted introduction brought us together.

What began as a venue search evolved into the opportunity to plan and design an entire California destination wedding weekend while the couple remained based in Texas.

Our role was to take their individual ideas and connect them into one cohesive experience.

Carly + Sara worked together across the stationery, florals, rentals, linens, signage, attire palette and guest experience while simultaneously managing the logistics of multiple venues, vendors and events.

The design never needed to look identical from one celebration to another. Instead, we focused on recognizable threads that allowed each event to feel individual while still belonging to the larger story.

Ultimately, the goal was to make all of that complexity feel effortless for the couple and their guests.

IN THE COUPLE'S WORDS

In their five-star review, the couple shared:

“We cannot thank Carly and Sara enough for the incredible job they did bringing our wedding vision to life! From start to finish, they demonstrated an unmatched attention to detail—every element was thoughtfully planned and flawlessly executed.”

They also shared that the communication throughout planning made them feel supported and genuinely cared for, allowing the process itself to feel smooth and enjoyable.

Perhaps most importantly, they were able to remain fully present throughout their wedding weekend without worrying about what was happening behind the scenes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PALOS VERDES WEDDINGS

is palos verdes a good location for a destination wedding?

Yes. Palos Verdes offers a distinctly Southern California experience with dramatic coastline, Pacific Ocean views, historic architecture and a collection of beautiful wedding venues throughout the Peninsula.

For couples hosting guests from outside California, the area also offers an opportunity to create an entire wedding weekend centered around the coast rather than limiting the experience to the wedding day itself.

can you have your ceremony + reception at different palos verdes wedding venues?

Absolutely. This couple held their ceremony at The Neighborhood Church of Palos Verdes Estates before continuing to Rolling Hills Country Club for their reception.

When using multiple wedding venues, transportation, travel time, vendor logistics and the guest experience between locations should be incorporated into the planning process from the beginning.

what should couples consider when planning a palos verdes wedding?

Coastal weather, transportation, guest accommodations, photography timing, vendor access and travel between wedding-weekend events are all important considerations.

For destination weddings in particular, we recommend thinking about the entire weekend as one guest experience. Welcome events, rehearsal dinners, the wedding day and farewell gatherings don't necessarily need identical designs, but they can feel intentionally connected.

how can you create a cohesive multi-event wedding weekend?

Start with a clear visual foundation rather than attempting to repeat one exact design.

For this wedding, color, natural textures, florals, stationery and personalized details created continuity while allowing the Welcome Party, rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception to each have their own identity.

The result feels much more layered and personal than recreating the same aesthetic at every event.
